AERONCA AIRCRAFT:
The Aeronca Aircraft Corporation was founded in Cincinnati, Ohio, on November 11, 1928. Aeronca became the first company to construct a commercially successful general aviation aircraft. This was, in part, due to the financial and political assistance of the influential Taft family, including future Ohio senator Robert A. Taft, who was one of the firm's directors.
